Clean the area
Wash the scratched area thoroughly with car wash soap and water. This removes dirt and debris that could interfere with the repair process.
Assess the scratch
Determine the depth of the scratch. If it is a light scratch that you can barely feel with your fingernail, you might be able to buff it out. Deeper scratches that have penetrated the clear coat or paint will require more intensive repair.
